What are the basic steps I need to know about operating my hot tub?
TWO BASIC STEPS NEEDED TO OPERATE A HOT TUB
- KEEP IT CLEAN
- KEEP THE WATER BALANCED
STEP 1- KEEP IT CLEAN
This is not as easy as it seems. But this is the main reason we all have our own hot tubs instead of using public hot tubs.
- MANAGE THE SANITIZER LEVEL.
- SHOCK IT
The are two ways to Oxidize.
- One is with a sanitizer. In this case you must add enough to raise the FASL to 10 plus ppm. Just adding a teaspoon of sanitizer is not oxidizing, it is just adding to the FASL.
- The other way is called a non sanitizer shock and is what we recommend for regular oxidizing. The product we use is called SPA LITE and is simple and easy to use.
STEP 2- WATER BALANCE
You must know how to test and adjust the Alkalinity and the PH. Alkalinity first and then PH.
- Alkalinity is a measure of buffer. You must have the correct level of buffer in order to control the PH
- PH is by far the most important. It is a measure of water that tells you if the water is acidic or basic. We of course want a neutral PH. Nobody would be comfortable soaking in acidic water.
There is a little more to learn and these are just the basics. If you need help in any way please bring a water sample to the store at anytime and we will help you get on the right track.
HAPPY TUBBING!
